Brighton Night Safety Marshal Wins Prestigious Frontline Worker Award
Debbie Watts, Team Leader of the Brighton Night Safety Marshal team, has been awarded the Frontline Worker Women In Security Award for her outstanding contributions to public safety. Praised for her exceptional work ethic and compassionate attitude, Debbie is a trailblazer, ensuring that people feel safe in the city’s night-time economy.
One notable example of Debbie’s heroism occurred on 8th September 2023, when she was approached by a concerned citizen regarding a female in distress. Debbie swiftly located the individual, who was unresponsive from a drug overdose, and took immediate action. She contacted emergency services, coordinated her team to the scene, and began life-saving chest compressions. Naloxone was later administered by duty staff, and the woman was stabilized, thanks to Debbie’s decisive actions.
This award follows her Sussex Police commendation in December for saving the life of a woman in distress on the beach. Debbie’s dedication and quick response continue to make a profound impact on Brighton's night-time safety.
