Initiatives

In addition to the core services outlined on our 'Membership' page, the Brighton Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) proudly administers a range of impactful initiatives designed to reduce crime and anti-social behavior throughout the city. With a commitment to innovation and excellence, we continually enhance our offerings to ensure we deliver the highest level of service to our members and stakeholders.

Vulnerability Awareness & Support

The Brighton Crime Reduction Partnership collaborates closely with Sussex Police and other partner organisations to promote awareness around vulnerability and enhance safety in the night-time economy. We provide regular vulnerability inputs during our meetings and weekly briefings, share a wealth of practical tips and strategies across our platforms and DISC Intelligence Hub, and offer direct advice to help businesses recognise vulnerability, spot predatory behaviour, and prevent drink spiking.

Youth Early Intervention Plan

The Youth Early Intervention Plan is a proactive framework developed by the Brighton Crime Reduction Partnership to support and divert children from entering the youth justice system. This initiative calls upon all city agencies to collaborate in addressing the vulnerabilities faced by children in our community. By investing resources in early prevention, we aim to foster a safer and more supportive environment for the youth of Brighton.

Night Safety Marshal Project

The Night Safety Marshal Project (NSM), co-created by the Brighton Crime Reduction Partnership in the summer of 2022, is an innovative response to the need for increased safety in Sussex's night-time economy. The trained and SIA-accredited Night Safety Marshals patrol the city center every Friday and Saturday night, engaging with the public, assisting individuals in getting home safely, and serving as a positive presence dedicated to reducing serious violence and ensuring a secure atmosphere for all.

Friday Night Intelligence Briefings

As a cornerstone of our commitment to safety, our Friday Night Intelligence Briefings provide invaluable insights to security and venue managers within the night-time economy. These briefings equip attendees with the latest crime trends, police activity updates, and critical intelligence, empowering them to proactively address risks and enhance safety within their venues. By fostering collaboration and sharing knowledge, we strengthen the community’s ability to keep Brighton’s nightlife vibrant and secure.

Operation Apprentice

Op Apprentice is a joint initiative led by the Brighton Crime Reduction Partnership and Sussex Police to tackle acquisitive crime and its wider impact on businesses and the community. Through bi-weekly intelligence meetings and targeted days of action, this initiative identifies high-harm offenders, addresses priority crime hotspots, and collaborates with partners to reduce crime and support enforcement. Op Apprentice embodies a unified and proactive approach to safeguarding Brighton’s business community.

Mobile Support Unit Accreditation

The BCRP Mobile Support Unit Accreditation is a comprehensive quality assurance scheme aimed at businesses seeking reliable security companies that provide vehicle-based mobile support. This initiative ensures that all accredited services meet rigorous standards, offering peace of mind for businesses and their patrons.
